Our Story

Ikigai Education was created to give young people opportunities to learn through experience. The name comes from the Japanese concept of ikigai, which means “reason for being” and reflects a life shaped by purpose and contribution.

Our work focuses on mentorship and experiential learning. Through mentorship, learners develop confidence, independence and responsibility. They also gain practical skills that support them in academics, sport and everyday life.

Through The Global Classroom, learners and schools experience different cultures, environments and ways of thinking. Japan is at the heart of these experiences and continues to influence how we approach education and personal growth.

Ikigai Education connects young people, schools and mentors through education, sport, travel and conversation. Everything we do is guided by respect, discipline, humility, integrity and continuous improvement. We want young people to experience more, understand themselves better and take greater responsibility for their lives.
